1. INEC Finally Declares Winner Of Bauchi Governorship Election
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Bala Muhammed of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as winner of the Bauchi governorship election. Mohammed, a former minister of Nigeria’ Federal Capital Territory (FCT), defeated Muhammed Abubakar, the incumbent governor of the northeast state.
2. Presidential Election: APC Demands Arrest, Probe Of Atiku, PDP
The APC has called for the arrest and investigation of the PDP leadership and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, over their alleged access to the server of INEC. The APC made this known in a petition written to the Inspector General of Police and the Director General of State Security Services (DSS) on Monday.
3. PDP Laughs Off INEC Server Allegation, Says Buhari’s APC Jittery
Nigeria’s main opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), says the INEC server allegation levelled against it by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) suggests that the party is worried it would lose in court. Reacting to the APC allegations against his party, spokesman for the PDP, Kola Ologbondiyan, asked the APC to stop “their unnecessary fabrications, smear campaign and prepare to face its legal team at the Presidential election tribunal.”
4. Another Building Collapses In Lagos
A three-storeyed building on Monday, March 25th, collapsed in Lagos Island, Lagos State. According to the Lagos State Management Agency (LASEMA), no one was trapped in the rubles of today’s building collapse.
5. Senate Presidency: Ndume Joins Race, Seeks APC’s Blessing
Sen. Ali Ndume (APC-Borno), has announced his intention to run for the office of the President of the Senate in the 9th National Assembly. Concise News reports that Ndume made this known in an intent letter to Adams Oshiomhole, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), dated March 25 and made available to newsmen in Abuja on Monday.
6. EFCC Reveals Whopping Amount ‘Stolen’ By 32 Entities Under Jonathan
The Chairman, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu, says over N1.3 trillion was stolen by 32 entities between 2011 and 2015 – under ex-President Goodluck Jonathan. Magu disclosed this at an event held in Lagos, on Monday, according to a statement by the commission’s Acting Head, Media and Publicity, Tony Orilade.
7. Okorocha Points Out Reason INEC Should Give Him Certificate Of Return
Imo state governor Rochas Okorocha has said that the returning officer for Imo west senatorial election, Professor Innocent Ibeabuchi, lied to INEC that he declared him winner of the poll out of duress. Based on this claim, Okorocha on Monday called on Nigeria’s electoral body to issue him with a certificate of return as the Senator-Elect for Imo West.
8. 9th National Assembly: Oshiomhole Makes Vow
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has insisted that it would not allow the opposition to hijack ‘juicy’ Committees in the 9th National Assembly. APC National Chairman Adams Oshiomhole stated this at a dinner hosted by President Muhammadu Buhari for all the party’s Senators, Senators-elect and some APC state governors at the Presidential Villa, Abuja on Monday.
9. U-23 AFCON Qualifier: Osimhen Bags Hat-Trick As Nigeria Tear Libya Apart
Victor Osimhen netted a hat-trick as Nigeria’s U-23 Eagles overturned a two-goal deficit by defeating Libya 4-0 on Monday in the reverse fixture of their Africa Cup of Nations qualifier to advance with a 4-2 win on aggregate. The Nigerians needed a three-goal margin of win after losing 2-0 to the north Africans in the first leg in Tunisia, where Libya’s adopted home ground is situated.
10. Fans React As Waje Considers Quitting Music
Nigerians have taken to Twitter to react to a video of top singer Waje revealing her consideration to quit music. In the now-trending video uploaded on her YouTube page titled “Music is not for me”, the singer lamented that the line was not working for her anymore. Waje, whose real name is Aijuaje Iruobe, expressed her frustrations concerning returns on investments in her last album, which she believes is one of the best that has come out of Nigeria.
